Modern Apartment Building

Creating seven modern homes on a former industrial site in Cricklewood planning permission was granted by Brent Council for this development in 2014.

The vacant plot is part of a larger estate Douglas and King have been working on to realise development opportunity. The design of the building is informed by the parapet line of the neighbouring property. The faceted roofline increases the volume of a building without having a negative impact on the character of the existing streetscape. Planning officers agreed that the development would have a positive effect on the architecture of the streetscape. The additional volume allows the creating of duplex apartments and greatly improves the viability of the development.

Each apartment is light, airy and spacious, has larger volumes than those set out in current planning guidelines, and utilises modern high performance windows and internal ‘Juliet’ balconies.

Planning has been granted by Brent Council and the practice is currently gearing up for the construction phase.
