About Us
Douglas and King Architects is an architecture and design studio based on Curtain Road in Shoreditch, London. The studio is run by its founders, Martin King and Craig Douglas who are both chartered architects.
Martin King and Craig Douglas are two very different personalities who work together well. Martin’s interest in kinetic sculpture leads the studio towards dynamic form making while Craig’s interest in simple, effective drawing by artists such as Joseph Beuys and Tracy Emin gives the work a work a directness that compliments Martin’s dynamism.
We work at all scales of the built environment. Our projects include furniture and interiors, individual houses, mixed-use developments, landscape schemes and urban design. We are as interested in the art of building as we are in the art of design and we enjoy making ideas become reality.
We know that architecture can’t work without clients and we feel that the client/designer relationship is where ideas start. We are pleased to be able to say many of our clients have commissioned us on a repeat basis.
Optimism and a desire to create interesting, useful architecture are the key threads that run through the working environment at Douglas and King Architects.
